Planning
on entertaining for Halloween? Spice up your party with some great ideas!
When
serving punch, use dry ice to give a smoky effect around your punch bowl.
Be advised that dry ice can burn the skin as it is very cold, so you must
be cautious when making use of it. The best way to produce this effect
is to have a decorative container in the center of your punch bowl. Place
the dry ice in the container, and have little holes punched in the lid.
Watch as little curls of "smoke" drift upward from your bunch bowl.
Put
"eyeballs" in your bunch bowl! When making ice for your party, add olives
to the water- prior to freezing. The finished product will give the effect
of eyes floating about. You might want to soak the olives in water prior
to making the cubes to remove the flavour.
Illuminate
using black lights. This will give an eerie, dim effect to your party.
Have
a howling contest! It's interesting to watch your guests howl more creatively
than the last.
Are you
hosting a cocktail party? Preparation will make your guests happy, and
the host more relaxed!
Aside
from beer, wine, and basic mixed drinks, prepare to serve cocktails at
your party. If you don't have a cocktail recipe book, search the net for
the recipes you will need. Don't attempt to make it up as you go along!
Some popular cocktails include screwdrivers, caesars, brown cows, and
margaritas.
Always
measure when mixing drinks. Pouring too much will make a drink too strong,
and waste liquor. Pouring too little will take away from the flavour of
the drink. Do not push drinks by pouring with a free hand.
Basic
liquors you should have on hand for your party include rum, rye, scotch,
gin, vodka, and tequila.
Mixes
should include club soda, gingerale, tonic water, lemon soda, and cola.
Have vermouth, bitters, and grenadine on hand. Juices should include orange
juice, tomato juice, Clamato, cranberry juice, lemon juice, limejuice,
and grapefruit juice.
Be sure
to have the following tools on hand: corkscrew, bottle/can openers, ice
bucket with tongs, water pitches, cocktail mixer, knife and cutting board,
stir rods, and plenty of cocktail napkins.
Whenever
you are serving alcohol, be responsible! Ensure that you have appetizers
and munchies for your guests. Keep an eye on your guests for intoxication.
Remember the condition of your guests is your responsibility.
